I was listening to an experienced international political strategist discussing winning attitudes that he has observed among successful people. One of the many things that most impressed him the most, is that winners seem to have equal goals of strategy and objectives.
Objective - They always seem to have an overall plan. This acts like a beacon that guides them.
Strategy – Once they can see the big picture they plan how they are going to get there. Their strategy and the objectives are aligned.
Motivation – They are steadfastly self- motivated. They don’t need anyone to pat them on the back. Failure is almost not an option.
You must also align your goals with your values. Who do you want to be? Why do you want the objective so bad? Or what are the consequences if you don’t achieve it?
In this business, I hear from people all the time, “I have no money, I am stuck, how can I do this? Can you pay for me? Can I pay you back?”
How does this defeating attitude play into your final objective? If you want change, you are going to have to want it bad enough to go out on a limb and try. If you are waiting for someone else to give you a hand up, you are not ready with a winning attitude. Not every program is for you, so keep looking around to find something that works for you; that resonates with your soul. Find something that provides you with a coach, with someone that can help you to realize the dreams that you have set for yourself.
Sometimes when you have an easier option, you are not hungry enough. You will not see the opportunities in the road ahead. You will align with pain as you go through the process and sooner or later you will quit.
What are some solutions?
Break your large goals into smaller and achievable goals. Don’t be a swinger! Don’t jump from program to program and then say they “don’t work”. Don’t be a victim of mass distraction. It dilutes your power.
If you can see other people around you being successful in your program “they work”. As the saying goes “it works if you work it” NOT “it works if you whine and complain”. Remember failures have a louder chorus.
You must also remember there is foresight and blind stupidity. If you can see that the people in the program are not genuine - for example, you can’t speak to them, you have no way to making a connection, get real. Are you going to keep throwing money at it? Remember your gut instinct is never wrong. Action in your solar plexus (energy center above your belly button) will always warn you that something is not quite right. Learn to be still, listen and re-evaluate.
As always, be kind and loving to yourself. You will make mistakes, learn from them. The universe has a way of “knocking you on the head” over and over again until you wake up. Employ perspicacity (yes, it’s a big word, and a stretch for some – go look it up, stretch yourself). Keep smiling and be good to yourself. Stay positive and take action.
